Greetings! My name is Seshait Afua Opare Allen or Mama Afua. I am so grateful to be apart of Egbe Sekere! I met Mama Yeye and was introduced to Sekere when I was 13 years old while I was going through Rites of Passage. It was such a awesome experience that I continued to play Sekere. Later after my Rites of Passage I would see the Women of Egbe Sekere in the community and I always wanted to join them. I was able to join the company when I was around 18- 19 years old. The wisdom of Sekere has been such a blessing as I have grown through different cycles in my life and will continue to grow. Egbe Sekere of Atlanta is such a family of love and we all strive to honor the wisdom and healing power of Sekere. I love to play for my family and when I’m happy or sad. It really is a blessing!
My professional background Is in mental health counseling and health and wellness coaching. I also have a huge love for Dance and Creative Expression.
I am apart of the Membership Committee.
